A Little Bit About Me

Hello everyone!
My name is Shawn Michael, people often call me Shawn or Mike for short. I am 18 years old and residing in East Jakarta, Indonesia. I am currently an undergoing undergraduate in one of Indonesia’s top university majoring in physics. I really love mathematics and natural sciences as a kid. Two of the most interesting branch of natural sciences that I love most are astronomy and physics.
I am quite a lucky person that the night sky where I live is dark enough away from light pollution, so I can get the chance to witness the stars every night, although sometimes I might be unlucky due to the bad weather. As my curiosity and love for astronomy peaks, during my senior high school year, I decided to participate in Indonesia’s National Science Olympiad or ‘OSN’. It was really fun and tiring in the same time but the experience, knowledge, and all the friends, teachers, and lecturers that I got to meet made it way more worth it and invaluable. As for physics, I could not thank two of my awesome senior high school physics teachers less for teaching physics in such a simple and easy manner that astonished and sparked my curiosity.
During the end of my senior high school year, I am faced with a difficult decision to either continue and pursue my career in astronomy or physics. I knew all along that astronomy and physics are not so different from each other. In fact, most of astronomy are rooted to basic physics and mathematics. After doing some research and getting advise from my family, I decided to choose physics as my career. I hope that with this career chosen, I can impact people from the closest around me to even my country.
That’s all from me, have a good one!
